Goodbye Chum!
Well… this wasn’t quite the plan—but nature had other ideas!
Thanks to a snow-light winter, our chum salmon have grown faster than expected and are officially ready to head out to sea a little earlier than usual. So instead of our usual festival later this spring, we’re turning our April Open House into a special (and slightly spontaneous!) release day.
Join us at the Hoy Creek Hatchery on Saturday, April 4 from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m. to help send our young salmon on their journey. You can lend a hand, learn about the hatchery, meet our amazing volunteers, and be part of this important moment in the salmon life cycle.
It’s a bit of an “oops”… but also a pretty great opportunity to get up close with the action!
Dress for the weather, bring your curiosity, and come help our chums head out to the big wide ocean.
